Biography
Christopher B. Kinzel is a Partner in the New York, New York office of Peckar & Abramson PC. His practice is focused on Construction Law and Litigation – Construction, representing construction managers and general contractors in commercial litigation and transactional matters. Chris advises clients on practical, business-oriented strategies to address current challenges and to reduce the risk of future disputes on complex construction projects.
Chris regularly represents clients in mediation, arbitration, and at the trial and appellate levels in connection with complex, multi-million dollar construction disputes. His litigation experience includes matters involving breach of contract, delay and disruption claims, defaults and terminations, nonconforming or incomplete work, payment disputes, mechanic’s liens, and other construction-related commercial claims.
On the transactional side, Chris drafts and negotiates a broad range of construction and commercial agreements, including construction management agreements, prime contracts, subcontracts, close-out agreements, modifications, change orders, contract notices, claim letters, waivers and releases, leases, and related documents. He has worked with Fortune 500 companies on large-scale construction projects and brings substantial knowledge of insurance coverage issues relevant to the construction industry.
In addition to his legal practice, Chris regularly conducts training seminars for clients and provides real-time guidance on issues that arise in the field during active construction. Prior to joining Peckar & Abramson PC, he served as general counsel and vice president of business development for a full-service construction company in New York City. This background gives him a practical understanding of the legal, operational, and business considerations faced by construction industry participants.
