Christopher A. Hurley is an attorney with Spotts Fain PC in Richmond, Virginia, where he practices in the firm’s Creditors’ Rights section. His practice focuses on bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights / insolvency and reorganization law, litigation involving bankruptcy matters, commercial litigation, and collections and recovery actions in state and federal courts. Chris represents creditors, lenders, trustees, and other parties in matters ranging from routine collections disputes to complex bankruptcy litigation and insolvency-related proceedings.
Chris regularly advises clients in matters involving commercial unlawful detainers, receiverships for commercial real estate, bankruptcy recovery actions, and creditor rights disputes. He also represents chapter 7 trustees in bankruptcy cases and related litigation and assists lenders and financial institutions in protecting their interests in criminal asset forfeiture proceedings. Chris earned his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2018. During law school, he served as Executive Editor of the Washington and Lee Law Review and participated in the school’s Tax Clinic, where he represented low-income taxpayers. After graduating, Chris served as a law clerk to the Honorable Paul M. Black of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia and the Honorable Elizabeth K. Dillon of the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
