Chris Leibig has practiced exclusively criminal defense since 1996. His firm has offices in Alexandria and Charlottesville. Chris is President-elect of the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and one of fourteen members of the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission, which oversees Virginia's Public Defender Offices. He has been a member of the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws since 2006.

Chris began his career at the Office of the Public Defender for the City of Alexandria, where he worked from 1996-2002 handling all varieties of criminal cases from Driving While Intoxicated to Murder. Since entering private practice in 2002, he has practiced exclusively criminal defense. In 2002, he formed Leibig, Moseley, and Dillard. In 2005, he became partners with nationally known attorney John Zwerling in the firm Zwerling, Leibig, and Moseley. In 2012, he formed his own law firm. He works regularly with the members of his prior law firms, as well as The Law Office of Joni C. Robin, Johnson/Citronberg, and many other high-quality defense attorneys throughout Virginia. In cases that require more than one attorney, he selects co-counsel based upon the needs of the specific case at issue.
Chris regularly handles serious and complex criminal defense matters during investigations, while charges are pending, and at trial. He has extensive experience handling appeals in matters handled originally handled by other attorneys.
Chris is also an award-winning novelist and a regular speaker at local and international legal programs regarding criminal defense.
