Christine Ashbourne is a partner in the Family Law Group at Torkin Manes LLP in Toronto, Ontario. She practises in all areas of family law, representing a broad range of clients in matters involving cohabitation agreements, marriage contracts, parenting and support disputes, property division, and complex litigation. Her practice includes matters involving high-net-worth individuals as well as cases that intersect with criminal, tax, and interjurisdictional issues. Christine is known for her practical and strategic approach to resolving family law matters. She regularly assists clients through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation, tailoring her approach to the circumstances of each case. She has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Appeal. During her articling year, Christine served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Southwest Region), where she gained valuable insight into court procedures and judicial decision-making. In addition to her legal practice, Christine contributes to the legal profession through writing and publishing. Since 2022, she has served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Money & Family Law. She is also the author of the family law chapter addressing the intersection of family and criminal proceedings in Modern Criminal Evidence, which is forthcoming in its second edition.
