Biography

Ms. Cheryl Ledbetter is a seasoned attorney based in Charleston, South Carolina, with a focus on Employment Law - Management at Gibbs & Holmes PC. A native of Arkansas, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Arkansas in 1977, where she was an active member of Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Her leadership skills were recognized during her presidency of Mortar Board, and she was honored as the Outstanding Senior Woman.

Furthering her education, Ms. Ledbetter attended Washington & Lee Law School in Virginia, where she became a notable writer and served as the Executive Editor of the Washington & Lee Law Review.

Following her graduation in 1980, she began her legal career with Jackson, Kelly, Holt & O'Farrell in Charleston, West Virginia, a firm known for its extensive practice in multiple states and its comprehensive services to business clients. Since the outset, Ms. Ledbetter has dedicated her practice to labor and employment law, representing employers in various aspects and emphasizing the defense against employment discrimination claims. Her experience extends to advising companies on employee-related issues, such as discipline and termination, and managing workplace investigations.

Ms. Ledbetter has received recognition from several legal publications, including The Best Lawyers in America, West Virginia Super Lawyers, and Chambers, U.S.A, Guide to Leading Business Lawyers, all highlighting her contributions to Labor and Employment Law.

Practicing law in South Carolina since 2012, she is admitted to the state and federal courts in both South Carolina and West Virginia, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
