Charles R. “Chuck” Bacharach is Chair of Gordon Feinblatt’s Employment Group and a member of the firm’s Litigation and Health Care practice groups. He represents employers and management in a broad range of employment law matters, including employment discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour disputes, wrongful discharge claims, employment contract disputes, ERISA claims, False Claims Act matters, defamation claims, and negligent misrepresentation actions.
Chuck has extensive experience representing employers before federal, state, and local administrative agencies. He has handled hundreds of matters before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights, the District of Columbia Commission on Human Rights, and county and municipal human relations commissions throughout Maryland.
In addition to employment litigation and administrative proceedings, Chuck counsels employers on compliance with federal and state workplace laws. He regularly assists clients responding to audits conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor involving the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Service Contract Act, and other employment-related regulations. He also advises clients regarding compliance reviews conducted by other federal and state agencies.
While Chuck has successfully defended employers in numerous employment disputes, his primary objective is helping clients avoid litigation. He works closely with employers to develop proactive workplace policies and employment practices designed to minimize risk and promote compliance. His counseling includes employee handbooks, employment agreements, restrictive covenant and non-compete agreements, workplace investigations, hiring practices, documentation procedures, and other employment-related policies.
Chuck also advises executives and other professionals regarding employment agreements, contract negotiations, and issues arising from the employment relationship. He is an active member of the American Bar Association’s Committee on Employee Rights and Responsibilities and frequently speaks on employment law, HR compliance, workplace investigations, discrimination claims, wrongful discharge, FMLA compliance, and related workplace issues.
