Charles F. Carr

Co-founder and name partner of the southeast-based civil defense firm Carr Allison, Charles Carr has more than 40 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts throughout Alabama. During his career, Charles has litigated matters throughout the United States, including New York, Texas, Vermont, Arkansas, California, Florida, Mississippi and Illinois. He has served as national coordinating council on complex and catastrophic personal injury cases in some 25 states for a major national insurance carrier. Additionally, he has served as national trial counsel for Swift Transportation, YRC and AutoZone.

An AV Preeminent® rated attorney through Martindale-Hubbell®, Charles has tried more than 250 matters in 50 of the 67 counties in Alabama. These matters have included truck accident cases, products liability claims, all manner of personal injury claims and commercial disputes, as well as fraud claims.

Charles is an active member and previous chair of the American College of Transportation Attorneys (ACTA), an organization limited to the top 25 transportation defense attorneys who have defended the transportation industry for more than 20 years. He has served as the first chair of the American Law Firm Association (ALFA) Transportation Practice Group and was a founder, board member, vice chair and chair of the USLAW Network, a 6,000-member organization in which he remains active.

In 1996, Charles was honored with the Alabama State Bar Award of Merit. In addition, he has been selected for publication in The Best Lawyers in America® and included in the Mid-South Super Lawyers® list for many years.

In 2016, Charles was honored with the John T. Biezup Memorial Service Award which is given for service and commitment to the defense of the trucking industry by the Transportation Industry Defense Association (TIDA). In 2017, he was elected to the Board of Directors of TIDA, a position he holds today.

Charles is an avid golfer and boater and enjoys cheering for his Alma Mater: the Alabama Crimson Tide. However, he is most proud of the five children that he and his wife Lyn have raised and enjoys playing with his nine grandchildren and wishes there will be more to come . . . hopefully.
