Catherine is a Family Law lawyer based in Canberra with Parker Coles Curtis. She is known for her clear communication, practical guidance and strategic approach, helping clients navigate complex family law matters with confidence and clarity during challenging periods in their lives.
As an Accredited Specialist in Family Law and an Independent Children’s Lawyer (ICL), Catherine regularly represents and supports children in family law proceedings, appearing in court and advocating for outcomes that prioritise their wellbeing. Her work in this area reflects both her professional commitment and personal understanding as a parent.
Catherine assists clients across a broad range of Family Law matters, including parenting arrangements, property settlements, family violence matters, mediation and negotiated resolutions. She is focused on identifying practical pathways forward and works closely with clients to develop tailored strategies suited to their individual circumstances.
Clients value Catherine’s ability to analyse complex information, identify key issues and provide straightforward advice with empathy and professionalism. She has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution processes, including negotiation and mediation, and is committed to helping clients resolve matters as efficiently and constructively as possible.
In addition to her legal practice, Catherine is actively involved in the Canberra legal and broader community. She serves as an elected Council member for the ACT Law Society and is Co-chair of the Family Violence & Children’s Committee. She also volunteers with the Women’s Legal Centre and the ACT Law Society Pro Bono Legal Advice Bureau, supporting access to legal assistance for members of the community.
Catherine is passionate about mentoring emerging lawyers and supporting charitable organisations including Menslink and Lifeline. Her involvement in community initiatives reflects her commitment to mental health awareness, community connection and supporting families through difficult circumstances.
Catherine’s interest in Family Law developed during her time at Legal Aid, where she regularly assisted individuals with family violence and personal protection order matters in the magistrates court. Over the years, her focus on delivering compassionate and practical legal support led to the formation of Parker Coles Curtis alongside fellow directors Jacqui and Debra, with a shared vision of providing clients with personalised and solutions-focused Family Law services.
Outside of work, Catherine enjoys dance, theatre, walking, yoga and cycling. She values spending time with her children and enjoys baking, along with sharing good food and conversation with family and friends.
