Biography

Carolyn Purcell Michener is an attorney in the Louisville office and a member of the Business Litigation Service Group. Carolyn has a diverse litigation practice that includes professional liability defense and product liability defense.

Recent Assignments

  • Obtained dismissal in defamation case by invoking the judicial statements privilege.
  • Obtained dismissal, on the basis of statute of limitations, of malicious prosecution and abuse of process claims asserted against a lawyer.
  • Counsel for distributor of pigments and minerals in defense of claims of alleged asbestos exposure.
  • Obtained dismissal in federal court of fraud, breach of contract, and various other claims asserted against national mortgage servicer on grounds of judicial estoppel.
  • Recent opinion from Kentucky Court of Appeals, affirming the trial court, dismissing legal malpractice case on grounds of res judicata and lack of causation

Carolyn joined the firm after serving for a year as a law clerk to the Hon. Charles R. Simpson, III, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. She is a coach of the Wagner Labor and Employment Moot Court team at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law (2016-present). Carolyn is a member of the Fund for the Arts NeXtGen board after graduating from the NeXt Ambassador Class of 2020.In her spare time, Carolyn enjoys going to the theatre, traveling, and spending time with her family.
