Carlton Bennett is recognized as an expert in traumatic brain damage litigation, nursing home malpractice and wrongful death caes. Mr. bennett was co-counsel in the largest mild-traumatic brain injury jury verdict, $10.2 million, ever awarded in Norfolk Circuit Court. He specializes in mild brain damage cases, but also handles moderate and severe cases. He has obtained numerous multi-million dollar jury verdicts and settlements for traumatic brain injury survivors, and other cases involving serious injuries and death.
Mr. Bennett is licensed to practice law in Virginia and Florida. He is a member of the Traumatic Brain Injury litigation section of the American Association for Juctice and is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers . - Zoll vs. Werner Enterprises, Inc. Norfolk Circuit Court (Virginia). 2008
This $10.2 million jury verdict is the largest jury verdict in the 300 year history of the court. Ms. Zoll sffered a mild traumatic brain injury in a rear-end crash on Interstate 295 in Hanover County in October 2003. Defendant denied liability. Case was tried for 11 days. The jury awarded pejudjudment interest, which calaculated after appeal to $2.4 million. Defendant's request for a writ of appeal was denied by The Virginia Supreme Court. Defendant paid the entire judgment.
- Wood vs. S.C. Jones and Young. Hampton (Virginia) Circuit Court. 2006
Wood suffered a mild traumatic brain injury in a car collision. The case was tried to a jury in Hampton Circuit Court. The jury returned a $3 million verdict.
- Watford vs. Briggins and School Board of the City of Hampton, Va. 2004
Motorcyclist suffered a traumatic brain injury after he was struck by the mirror of a passing school bus. The case settled just before trial for $7.5 million.
