Carlos E. Martínez Betanzos

Carlos E. Martínez Betanzos is counsel in the Mexico City office and member of the firm’s Arbitration and Dispute Resolution practice. Carlos focuses his practice on major international arbitrations (commercial and investor-state), cross-border litigation proceedings, as well as international law matters.

He also advises clients in connection with anticorruption regulations, compliance programs and investigations in Mexico Latin America. He handles matters for entities in industries including energy, oil and gas, mining, extractive and metals, pharmaceutical, consumer products, construction, telecommunications, automotive, manufacturing, among others. The publication Who’s Who Legal recognizes him as a Future Leader in Arbitration, mentioning that Carlos “boasts experience working in both the US and Mexico” and “excels in bridging the gaps between the two countries’ legal systems, cultures and styles” adding that Carlos “is internationally recognised as a standout figure in the arbitration field and wins praise for his ability to have a “great overview of all the important parts of a case.” Prior to joining the firm, Carlos spent 10 years of his professional practice in New York, where he completed his Master of Laws at New York University School of Law and worked at the New York office of three global law firms. He also worked as an International Arbitration Case Counsel at the international division of the American Arbitration Association (ICDR).
