Biography

Candice B. Deyerle is a founding partner of Deyerle Silva Smith, PLLC, and is board-certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. With a specialization in handling particularly complex family law issues, she offers expertise in cases involving divorce with businesses involved, multi-million dollar estates, privacy or publicity concerns, contested custody matters, and children or parties with disabilities and/or special needs. Candice also addresses difficult issues such as alcoholism, drug abuse, addiction, mental health disorders, or personality disorders. Since being licensed in 2010, she has built a long track record of success, having tried several jury and non-jury matters as lead counsel. Clients consistently praise her responsiveness, dedication, and the successful results she achieves.

Understanding that court is not always the best option for her clients, Candice also offers mediation services. She completed her mediation training through the A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center and is a certified mediator. Her negotiation skills and mediation training have enabled her to reach amicable resolutions outside of court for numerous clients when appropriate. This ability to handle cases both in and out of court ensures that Candice can provide tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of each client.

Born in Austin, Texas, Candice moved to College Station to attend Texas A&M University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Business. She then moved to Houston to study law at the University of Houston Law Center, earning her Doctorate of Jurisprudence and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2010. Candice became board-certified in family law in 2016. After working at premier family law firms in Houston and Austin, she established Deyerle Silva Smith, PLLC in 2023. Candice now provides concierge-level legal services to clients across Texas, particularly in Travis County, Williamson County, Hays County, Bastrop County, Bell County, Austin, Westlake, Lakeway, Round Rock, Georgetown, Leander, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Lago Vista, Bee Cave, Buda, Kyle, and San Marcos.

How can I protect myself financially from a divorce?

To safeguard your financial interests in the event of a divorce, it's crucial to prioritize legal protection through a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement. This legally binding document outlines asset division and financial responsibilities, offering clarity and protection for both parties. Additionally, maintaining separate financial accounts and keeping meticulous records of assets and contributions can strengthen your position during divorce proceedings. Seek guidance from our attorneys at Deyerle Silva Smith, we are specialized in divorce and family law, we can ensure you understand your rights and obligations. We empower you to navigate the process with confidence and safeguard your financial future.

What is a contested divorce and how long does it take?

A contested divorce occurs when spouses are unable to reach an amicable agreement regarding key aspects of their separation, such as asset division, spousal support, and child custody. These issues initiate litigation wherein legal professionals represent each party's interests before a judge. The duration of such proceedings fluctuates significantly due to factors like case intricacy and court backlog, spanning from several months to potentially longer periods extending over years.

What is the average cost of divorce in Austin, TX?

The cost of divorce in Austin can vary widely depending on various factors such as the complexity of the case, whether it is contested or uncontested, and the attorney fees involved. Our retainers generally start at $5,000, but actual costs will differ for each case.
