Biography

Ray Grantham Jr. is a seasoned attorney with a distinguished career in family law, employment law, and complex commercial litigation. A veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Ray brings the discipline, leadership, and strategic thinking honed during his military service to his legal practice. He is a National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals Fellow. As Of Counsel at Robinson & Lawing, LLP, he focuses on complex equitable distribution and client relations.

Ray earned his law degree with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he was a member of the North Carolina Law Review and the Order of the Coif. Since 2005, he has been listed in Best Lawyers in America’s Family Law Section, where he was named Triad Lawyer of the Year in Family Law in 2021 and 2024, and has been selected to North Carolina’s top attorneys in North Carolina Super Lawyers since 2007.

Beyond his legal practice, Ray is a respected educator and speaker, frequently presenting on trial practice, rules of evidence, and other legal topics at Continuing Legal Education seminars. He has served as an Ethics Instructor for the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism, has taught at the District Court Judge’s Conference, and is a former Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association Family Law Section.
