Biography

C.J. Baker represents victims with serious injuries and he won’t let any corporation or insurance company stop his clients from getting complete justice. He has won millions of dollars for victims of 18-wheeler crashes, oilfield equipment failures, offshore platform explosions, and defective medical devices.

“The courtroom is the only place where everyone—rich or poor, young or old—can get justice for their injuries,” C.J. says. “So I prepare every case to take it to the courtroom.” C.J. also understands how injuries can hurt an entire family. “I’ve seen firsthand how injuries put someone’s life into a tailspin. They can’t work because of the pain. They can’t pay their bills because they can’t work. That damage hurts relationships and causes depression and anxiety. An injury harms the whole person. That is why I use every tool in the law to get as much compensation as possible, as fast as possible.”

Before joining Armstrong Lee & Baker LLP, C.J. practiced with excellent injury lawyers handling catastrophic injuries and national litigation against medical device companies. Before that he worked at one of the world’s largest law firms representing companies in multi-million dollar business disputes.

C.J. graduated summa cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2016. He was an editor of the Texas Tech Law Review and a top national trial and moot-court advocate. He graduated Order of the Coif and Order of Barristers. He also interned for a federal judge.

Outside the office, C.J. lives in central Houston with his wife, Shelley, and their daughter, Naomi. The Bakers are members at Houston’s City Church. C.J. is also active in the Houston Bar Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Young Lawyer’s Association, and the American Association for Justice.

Q&A

At Armstrong Lee & Baker LLP, our practice is built around a single mission: to fight relentlessly for those who’ve been seriously injured. We focus exclusively on personal injury cases because we believe in standing up for people when they need it most.

What makes our firm unique is the way we combine trial-tested experience with compassionate, client-centered service. We’re not a settlement mill. Every case is prepared as if it’s going to trial, and that reputation gives us a distinct edge—whether we’re negotiating with billion-dollar insurers or presenting a case to a jury.

But just as important as results is the way we treat our clients. We understand that an injury changes everything. So we keep communication clear and consistent, we explain every step, and we make sure clients always feel heard and supported. That level of care, combined with our relentless pursuit of justice, is what sets us apart.

Clients often come to us overwhelmed, uncertain, and in pain—so the questions we hear most reflect that confusion and urgency.

“Do I even have a case?”
This is one of the first things people ask. We explain that if someone else’s negligence contributed to their injury—whether it was a reckless driver, an unsafe job site, or a careless company—then they may have a strong claim. We walk through the facts, answer questions honestly, and help them understand what legal options are available.

“How much is my case worth?”
While no ethical lawyer can promise a number upfront, we help clients understand the kinds of damages they may be entitled to—like medical costs, lost income, pain and suffering, and future care. We emphasize that our goal is to pursue the full value of their case, not just the first offer.

“What will this cost me?”
Clients are relieved to learn that we work on a contingency fee basis. That means no upfront costs, and no legal fees unless we win. We believe justice should be accessible to everyone, no matter their financial situation.

“How long will this take?”
We’re honest—some cases resolve quickly, others take time, especially if they go to trial. But we keep clients updated every step of the way, so they’re never left in the dark.

Ultimately, clients want to know they can trust us. Our job is to earn that trust—by being clear, responsive, and relentless in our advocacy.
