Brian R. Jenney is an attorney with Kemp Klein in Troy, Michigan who advises individuals and families on matters involving Elder Law, Trusts and Estates, and Tax Law. His practice focuses on helping clients plan for the future while addressing the legal and financial considerations that arise as families age or experience major life changes.
Mr. Jenney works with clients on estate planning strategies designed to protect assets, address health care and financial decision-making, and provide for the orderly transfer of property. He prepares wills, trusts, and powers of attorney and counsels families on planning approaches that consider tax implications and long‑term care concerns. Through this work, he assists clients in creating plans that reflect their personal goals and family circumstances.
In addition to advance planning, Mr. Jenney represents families dealing with immediate elder care needs. He assists with guardianships and conservatorships for individuals who are no longer able to manage their personal or financial affairs. He also guides families through the administration of estates and trusts after the loss of a loved one, addressing probate procedures, trust administration, and related tax matters.
Mr. Jenney has received recognition from legal publications and peer review organizations for his work in estate planning and elder law. He was named a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyers magazine for Estate Planning & Probate Law in 2008–2010 and 2012–2013. He was also featured in the 2011 issue of Michigan Super Lawyers magazine among approximately five percent of attorneys in Michigan recognized in the practice area of Elder Law. Mr. Jenney earned a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and received his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School. He also completed a Certificate of Completion in probate and estate planning through the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) and the Probate & Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Oakland County Bar Association, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Mr. Jenney is also a member and co‑founder of the Brother Rice Warrior Bar Association. He lives in the Troy, Michigan area with his family and is married to a physician. Together they are the parents of two sets of twins.
