Biography
Brian is a trial lawyer born and raised in Iowa who practices with Galligan Law PC in Clive, Iowa. He represents injured individuals and families in Medical Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs and Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs. His work focuses on claims involving medical negligence, motor vehicle collisions, defective products, and other acts of negligence that cause serious injury or loss.
Brian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado College in Colorado Springs before returning to Iowa to attend the University of Iowa College of Law. He graduated with High Distinction and was inducted into the Order of the Coif, an academic honor recognizing sustained scholastic achievement during law school.
As the son of a trial lawyer, Brian was introduced early to the responsibilities involved in representing injured clients. Years of conversations and shared experiences with his father gave him insight into the role trial lawyers play in providing access to the civil justice system for people whose lives have been altered by negligence. These early influences continue to shape his approach to client representation.
After law school, Brian joined his father’s law practice in Des Moines, Iowa, where he practiced alongside him for six years. Following his father’s unexpected retirement due to illness, Brian continued the practice and has since represented clients in complex jury trials and negotiated resolutions. His trial experience includes cases involving commercial vehicle collisions, medical malpractice claims, and wrongful death arising from motor vehicle crashes. He has also resolved hundreds of personal injury cases through settlement on behalf of injured clients and their families.
Brian is active in professional legal organizations at both the state and national level. He is a past president of the Iowa Association for Justice and currently serves on the Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice. He is also a fellow of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers. Brian has lectured nationally on trial practice and developing legal issues, and in 2021 he was appointed by the Iowa Supreme Court to serve on the Iowa Rules of Evidence Substantive Review Task Force.
Within the legal community, Brian is recognized for his preparation, professionalism, and dedication to his clients. He has received an AV Preeminent peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell, based on evaluations from attorneys and members of the judiciary. Outside of his law practice, Brian is a proud father of three children.
Brian lives in Clive, Iowa, where he enjoys spending time with his family and recharging outside of the courtroom.
