With an extensive trial résumé, Brian centers his practice on insurance coverage analysis and litigation, insurance bad faith and extra-contractual litigation, insurance regulatory matters including representation of the North Carolina Rate Bureau and the North Carolina Reinsurance Facility, the defense of transportation liability claims involving large commercial trucks and buses, medical negligence cases and products liability litigation. Brian has litigated cases to verdict in many state courts and all three federal districts in North Carolina. He has handled appeals in both state and federal appellate courts and is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court. His trial experience also includes construction liability and premises liability cases. Brian is certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission to conduct mediated settlement conferences in Superior Court cases. He is available to conduct mediations in most North Carolina counties.
Brian has held important leadership positions within the Bar and is well-connected throughout the state. In particular, Brian is a past president of the Wake County Bar Association, the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, the Capital City Lawyers Association, and has served on the North Carolina Bar Association Board of Governors. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the International Society of Barristers.
Brian is listed in North Carolina Super Lawyers® (2010-2017, 2023, 2024) and in Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite™ in the category of Litigation (2023).
