Biography

Brian Kotzker is a Bethesda, Maryland attorney at Selzer Gurvitch whose practice focuses on Commercial Litigation, Corporate Law and Real Estate Law. A fifth-generation Washingtonian, Brian brings a strong understanding of the Washington metropolitan area business and real estate markets and advises clients on a wide range of legal and business matters involving commercial transactions, property ownership and business operations.

Brian represents regional real estate investors, developers, property management companies, restaurant owners, professional service providers, nonprofit organizations and closely held businesses. His real estate practice includes advising clients on acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing and development matters involving office, retail, warehouse, industrial and mixed-use properties. Drawing on his background as a Certified Public Accountant, Brian provides practical guidance designed to help clients address both legal and financial considerations throughout the life cycle of a transaction.

In his Corporate Law practice, Brian counsels businesses on entity formation, governance, contract drafting and negotiation, commercial agreements and day-to-day operational matters. He also advises clients in connection with commercial lending transactions and business-related disputes. As part of his Commercial Litigation practice, Brian represents clients in business disputes, landlord-tenant matters and other commercial conflicts.

In addition to his legal work, Brian is active in the community. He serves on the Board of Directors and chairs the Finance Committee of the Alef Bet Jewish Montessori School in North Bethesda. He also serves as a Director and Officer of a nonprofit subsidiary of Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas, Inc.

Brian earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Maryland, where he was a member of the Beta Alpha Psi Honorary Accounting Society, and received his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Brian also serves on Selzer Gurvitch’s Executive Committee as Treasurer.
