Brian Barakat

Brian Barakat is a Board-Certified business litigator at Barakat + Bossa in Coral Gables, Florida. His practice includes Corporate Law, Litigation - Labor and Employment, and Litigation - Real Estate. He represents businesses, executives, property owners, and entrepreneurs in complex commercial disputes involving shareholder and partnership conflicts, fiduciary duty claims, restrictive covenants, contract disputes, business torts, and financial fraud matters. Mr. Barakat advises clients on litigation strategy, risk management, and dispute resolution in both Florida state and federal courts.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Barakat served as a prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office in the Economic Crimes Division of the Special Prosecution Section. In that role, he handled investigations and prosecutions involving white-collar crime, financial fraud, and business-related disputes. His experience in economic crimes litigation provides valuable insight in matters involving fraud allegations, fiduciary litigation, and complex corporate disputes.

At Barakat + Bossa, Mr. Barakat represents clients in a broad range of commercial, employment, and real estate litigation matters. His experience includes disputes involving non-compete agreements, restrictive covenant enforcement, labor and employment claims, partnership and shareholder litigation, commercial lease disputes, and real estate conflicts. He has represented clients through all stages of litigation, including pre-suit negotiations, motion practice, discovery, mediation, arbitration, and trial.

Mr. Barakat also advises companies and business owners on legal issues that affect day-to-day operations, helping clients address disputes while protecting long-term business objectives. His corporate and litigation experience allows him to provide practical guidance on risk management, internal business disputes, contractual obligations, and employment-related matters.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Barakat is involved in attorney mentorship and continuing legal education initiatives at Barakat + Bossa. Working alongside Giacomo Bossa, he helps support a collaborative professional environment focused on client service, legal education, and professional development. He regularly presents CLE-accredited seminars and internal training programs on topics including trial preparation, voir dire, fiduciary duty litigation, restrictive covenant disputes, financial fraud investigations, and the independent tort doctrine.
