My practice focuses on representing individuals whose lives have been impacted by another party’s negligence. I handle personal injury matters involving motor vehicle accidents, construction and workplace injuries, slip and fall accidents, truck accidents, wrongful death, and other negligence claims.

One aspect of my background that informs my practice is the combination of medical studies and courtroom experience. I studied pre-medicine in college before pursuing a career in law, and after law school I began my legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan. In that role, I gained substantial courtroom and trial experience advocating on behalf of crime victims.

Today, I draw on both of those experiences when representing injured clients. My background in pre-medicine helps me understand the medical issues that are often central to personal injury cases, while my experience in the courtroom has provided a strong foundation for litigation and trial advocacy.

• Do I have a case? That is often the first question someone asks after being injured. I explain that every situation is different. We need to understand how the accident occurred, who may be responsible, what injuries resulted, and what evidence is available before determining what legal options may be available.
• What is my case worth? There usually is not an immediate answer because the value of a personal injury case depends on many factors. These may include the nature and extent of the injuries, medical treatment, lost income, how the injuries have affected the client’s daily life, available insurance coverage, and the evidence related to responsibility. My goal is to fully understand the impact of the injury before evaluating the case.
• How long is this going to take? Every case progresses differently. Some matters are resolved through negotiations, while others may require litigation or trial. I try to provide clients with a realistic understanding of the process and keep them informed about what is happening as the case moves forward.
• Will my case have to go to trial? Not every personal injury case goes to trial, but I believe it is important to prepare each case with that possibility in mind. My background as a prosecutor provided significant courtroom experience, and I bring that experience to my personal injury practice when litigation becomes necessary.
• What should I be doing while my case is pending? I encourage clients to focus on their recovery, follow the recommendations of their medical providers, keep important records and documentation, and communicate with us when questions or concerns arise. We handle the legal process while keeping clients informed throughout the case.

One of the most challenging aspects of personal injury law is understanding the full impact an injury has on a person’s life. A case is not simply about an accident or a medical record. An injury can affect someone’s health, ability to work, family responsibilities, independence, and future plans.

That is one reason my background in pre-medicine has been valuable in my practice. Medical evidence is often an important part of a personal injury case, and it is important to understand how that evidence connects to what the client is experiencing on a daily basis.

There is also the challenge of presenting that information clearly and effectively throughout the legal process. My experience as a prosecutor taught me the importance of preparation, evidence, and communicating a client’s story in a clear and persuasive way when courtroom litigation becomes necessary.

Rochester has always been home for me, and representing people in the community where I grew up is especially meaningful. After beginning my career as a prosecutor in New York City, I returned to Rochester and have spent much of my career advocating for individuals and families affected by serious injuries.

I have always viewed the practice of law as an opportunity to pursue justice for people who need someone in their corner. Earlier in my career, that involved seeking justice for victims of crimes. Today, it means helping those whose lives have been impacted by the carelessness of others.
