Brett A. Datto is Of Counsel at Weir LLP in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he focuses on complex commercial litigation and labor and employment matters. With more than 36 years of legal experience, he has represented businesses, professionals, and individuals in a wide range of disputes involving multi-million-dollar contract claims, construction litigation, environmental matters, banking and insurance disputes, real estate litigation, employment claims, business torts, and state and federal criminal defense.
Mr. Datto has also handled professional negligence matters on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants and frequently serves as an expert witness in negligence-related disputes. He joined Weir LLP in 1997, became a Partner in 1999, and transitioned to Of Counsel status in 2022.
In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Datto serves as a Judge Pro Tempore for both the Major Jury and Commerce Court programs in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Justinian Society, and he previously served as a barrister with the Temple American Inn of Court, an organization focused on professionalism, legal ethics, and advocacy skills within the legal profession.
For the past 14 years, Mr. Datto has been selected by his peers for inclusion in “Pennsylvania Super Lawyers,” a recognition awarded to a limited percentage of attorneys statewide.
Mr. Datto is also active in charitable and community organizations. He serves as President of The Darren Daulton Foundation, which provides financial assistance to individuals affected by brain tumors and brain cancer. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Blue White Scholarship Foundation at Villanova University, The Cheltenham Center for the Arts, and Marley’s Mission.
