Ms. Gotanda represents a diverse array of clients from complex industrial manufacturers in heavily regulated industries to real estate developers. Her clients have included product manufacturers, chemical processors, oil refiners, REITs, construction management companies, power producers, railroads, retail chains, waste and recycling companies, colleges and universities, camps, municipalities, and development authorities. Ms. Gotanda handles a wide range of matters including those addressing the regulation of waste, wastewater, stormwater, storage tanks, air, and chemical substances. Her legal practice includes environmental aspects of business and real estate transactions; green building, green claims, and sustainability; alternative energy; site remediation; brownfield redevelopment; risk management; health and safety (OSHA); asbestos; polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs); spill prevention and response; NPDES permitting and TMDL development; compliance auditing; and defense of agency enforcement actions.
Ms. Gotanda serves on the Board of Directors of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council and on the Greenbuild 2013 Host Committee. She founded and coordinates the Sustainability Directors’ Roundtable. She is also a co-founder and Director Emeritus of the Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP) of Greater Philadelphia. She has served as Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association and as Chair of the Radnor Township Environmental Advisory Council. She is a frequent speaker and author on topics of environmental law, green building, and sustainability.
