Overview

Brandon Curtis practices in the areas of environmental and natural resource law. Mr. Curtis represents clients in the steel manufacturing, mining, and electric utility industries. Mr. Curtis's practice focuses on assisting clients through the full breadth of the air permitting process. Mr. Curtis's practice includes developing emission inventories, compiling applications, negotiating with the regulatory body, responding to public comment, and litigating permitting decisions before administrative tribunals. Mr. Curtis provides regulatory compliance assistance to hazardous waste generators complying with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and similar state rules. This includes providing advice regarding hazardous waste determinations, accumulation rules, manifesting, and exporting, among others. Mr. Curtis is active in commenting on regulatory proposals on behalf of various stakeholders to ensure government regulations accomplish the intended environmental benefit without imposing undue burden on those tasked with compliance. Mr. Curtis's practice also includes developing customized environmental training designed to improve competency across a corporation and satisfy regulatory obligations. Mr. Curtis has developed tailored, in-house training for clients on a variety of subjects, including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Toxic Substances Control Act, the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, the Hazardous Materials regulations, and many others. Mr. Curtis brings his technology background to bear by developing solutions to deliver this training in a convenient online environment.

Mr. Curtis was a judicial extern for The Honorable Kent J. Dawson of the U.S. District Court of Nevada and The Honorable Scott Matheson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. Curtis authored and published Criminalizing Non-Evacuation Behavior: Unintended Consequences and Undesirable Results in the 2015 edition of the BYU Law Review. Mr. Curtis also co-authored the article entitled Urban Planning published in the Elgar Encyclopedia of Environmental Law.
