Brad Friend

Brad Friend focuses his practice on Construction Law and Litigation – Construction, with an emphasis on construction law litigation, claim preparation, and dispute resolution. Based in McLean, Virginia, Brad represents clients in complex construction disputes across multiple jurisdictions. With more than twenty years of experience, he has served as lead counsel in multi‑million dollar matters involving a wide range of construction-related issues.

Brad’s construction litigation experience includes highway and commercial construction projects, delay and disruption claims, geotechnical issues and differing site conditions, wastewater treatment facilities, dam and bridge construction, design-related disputes, environmental and erosion control matters, HVAC and electrical systems, drywall and interior finishes, and concrete issues. His practice also involves commercial general liability and builders’ risk insurance claims, state and federal bid protests, mechanic’s liens, performance and payment bond matters, and construction contract drafting.

Brad represents both large and small prime contractors, subcontractors, and owners throughout all stages of construction disputes, from claim preparation through discovery and trial. His litigation experience includes matters in state and federal courts, as well as mediations and arbitrations. He also assists clients with negotiating and resolving complex construction disputes outside of the courtroom.

Brad is a graduate of West Virginia University College of Law (J.D., 2003) and the University of Florida (B.A., with honors, 1999). He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, District of Columbia, State of Maryland, State of West Virginia, State of Iowa, and related federal courts. Brad practices with Kraftson Caudle, serving clients throughout Virginia and beyond.
