Borja began his professional career in the EU and Competition Law Department at Uría Menéndez, working in both the Brussels and Madrid offices.
He has been on secondment to the antitrust and competition law departments at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (New York 2004-2005) and at Slaughter and May (London 2008).
Since 2015 he has been Director of Competition Law of the Regulatory, Administrative and Competition practice at KPMG in Spain.
He specialises in advising and representing companies involved in merger control proceedings at the European Commission and the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC). He has advised companies on dawn-raids by the European and national competition authorities and has been involved in European, Spanish and regional infringement proceedings for restrictive agreements, including cartels, and abuse of dominant position. He also has a significant experience advising on State aid and internal market law.
He regularly lectures at several universities and higher education organisations and has published numerous articles on competition law published in specialist media.
