Focusing his practice on intellectual property litigation in both federal court and administrative proceedings before the USPTO, Blake has worked on all stages of disputes, from pre-filing investigations and enforcement letters through pleadings, motion practice, discovery, trial, and appeal. He also maintains active patent and trademark prosecution dockets, including serving as U.S. counsel for overseas companies and attorneys. Through searching, investigations, legal research, and writing, Blake supports a wide range of opinion and transactional matters at the firm, including patentability and clearance opinions, licensing, and due diligence.
His legal work has served clients across a vast range of industries, including medical devices, sporting goods, skincare, building materials and construction, chemicals, telecommunications, electronics components, lighting, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, automotive components, packaging, and various consumer products. With a foundation in mathematics, Blake brings a logical and rigorous approach to legal analysis and client service, consistently striving to deliver effective and clear writing and advocacy, comprehensive knowledge of the law and the factual and technical record, and practical, common sense advice.
Beyond his practice, Blake serves as an adjunct professor at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, contributing to the development of the next generation of legal professionals. Outside of the law, he is a lifelong musician whose performances have spanned a remarkably wide range of settings, from a one night only rock band and intimate restaurant ambience gigs to stadiums with more than 100,000 spectators and hundreds of church services.
