Biography
Bernardo is a founding partner of Parra Rodríguez Lawyers, established in 1991. He specializes in corporate and finance law, mergers & acquisitions, and aviation law with a special focus on cross-border transactions. His experience includes financing, mergers & acquisitions, aircraft leases and purchase & sale transactions, private placements, secured loans and the issuance of notes, among others.
He is a graduate of the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) in 1986 and earned a LLM in international business law from the London School of Economics. He has participated in the most aircraft leasing transactions in Colombia, the financing of the Medellin Metro, the acquisition of Bell South assets, the establishment of Carrefour in Colombia, the acquisition of the Cerrejón mines, the largest in Colombia and the financing of the Hoegh Grace, a tanker designed for the storage and regasification of liquefied natural gas.
Currently he is a member of the Board of Directors of Goberna Ortega Marañón, IBRACO (Brazil-Colombia Institute of Culture), and of the IA and Bernardo Foundation. He has also been a member of the boards of several companies such as Siderúrgica del Pacífico and of pro bono institutions in Colombia such as Compartamos por Colombia, Dividendo por Colombia and Interacción Social.
