With over thirty years of experience as a Registered Patent Attorney, Bill has prosecuted hundreds of patent and trademark applications, and he has litigated patent, trademark and copyright matters. As an industrial engineering graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology (a program consistently ranked as the best in the nation) and with a Masters in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, Bill has the education and experience to understand complex patents, trademarks and commercial disputes, and an ability to identify and facilitate solutions.
In intellectual property matters, he has
- obtained more than 300 United States patents for clients
- participated in prosecuting more than 100 foreign patent applications
- filed more than 1000 trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Offices on behalf of his clients
With regard to business counseling and commercial transactions, Bill Killough has participated in more than 200 commercial transactions representing buyers, sellers, borrowers and lenders.
Killough holds a Martindale-Hubble Preeminent rating, (the highest, formerly referred to as AV), is included in Best Lawyers in the fields of intellectual property litigation and corporate law, and is a regular contributor to both Federal Circuit Case Digest and Practical Law Company. He is a Permanent Member of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Judicial Conference, a Litigation Council of America Fellow and a member of the Intellectual Property Institute.
With facilitation and mediation in mind, Bill obtained his mediation certification from the South Carolina Supreme Court Arbitrator and Mediator Certification Board, and he received training from the American Arbitration Association, specifically to assist with patent, trademark and intellectual property disputes.
