Biography
Askan Deutsch advises and represents German and international clients in all areas of intellectual property law. He has extensive experience in competition, trade mark, design, copyright and domain law, as well as in patent, utility model, IT and data protection law. He supports companies in developing trade mark strategies, designing advertising measures and websites, and enforcing or defending preliminary injunctions and legal proceedings, including before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), German Federal Patent Court (BPatG), European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). Mr Deutsch is also admitted to practise before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as a licensed attorney in New York.
He also advises on advertising, copyright, IT law, and contract matters. His cross-sector experience spans clients from Germany and abroad—including the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA—in industries such as insurance, finance, pharmaceuticals, entertainment, travel, cosmetics, fashion, jewellery, tobacco, sports, chemicals, and retail. Judgments from his cases have appeared in leading specialist journals, and he regularly gives lectures and publishes articles.
