Biography

Ashleigh is an experienced workplace relations and safety lawyer who works collaboratively with in-house counsel, senior management and human resources personnel providing practical and targeted advice across a broad range of employment and safety related matters.

In addition to her advisory practice, Ashleigh has assisted employers in navigating all applicable court and tribunal processes, including safety prosecution proceedings, coronial inquests, fair work commission matters and discrimination claims.

She works with both public and private sector employers in a wide range of industries including private equity, education, media and communications and professional services, as well as property management, electrical supply, manufacturing and mining.

Ashleigh’s recent experience includes:

  • acting in industrial disputes and litigated claims brought against employers in the Fair Work Commission, Industrial Court of NSW, Supreme Court of NSW, Federal and Family Circuit Court of Australia and Federal Court of Australia
  • acting in coronial inquests involving complex multi-disciplinary issues, including legal, regulatory, health and policy issues
  • drafting and advising on all aspects of employment documentation, including employment contracts, executive and contractor agreements and variable remuneration schemes, workplace policies and organisational codes of conduct
  • providing strategic advice to inform performance management processes, misconduct investigations, the enforcement of post-employment restraints, the protection of confidential information and re-structuring
  • assisting clients with a broad range of statutory compliance matters, including compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) and the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) including interacting with regulators and the Ombudsman
  • managing complex issues relating to long term ill and injured workers, including return to work and abandonment of employment issues
  • liaising and engaging experts in various fields connected to workplace relations and safety law, including pharmacologists, psychiatrists and emergency management professionals.
