Biography

Aretha Frazier is a family law attorney with Thrive Family Law LLC, serving clients in Englewood, Colorado and the surrounding Denver area. Her practice focuses on Family Law matters, with particular attention to child custody and parenting issues. Aretha is dedicated to helping clients pursue solutions that support the well-being and stability of their children throughout the legal process.

Before entering private practice, Aretha served as a guardian ad litem through the Colorado Office of Child Representatives. In that role, she advocated for children involved in Dependency and Neglect cases, including children in foster care, ensuring their perspectives were presented to the court. As an adoptee raised by her single, Black, lesbian mother, Aretha brings meaningful cultural awareness to her work and enjoys supporting non-conventional and diverse families in family law matters.

Aretha has received professional recognition for her work in the legal community. In 2022, she was recognized by the National Black Lawyers as one of its Black Lawyers Under 40, and in 2026, she was included in Best Lawyers’ “Ones to Watch” list.

Aretha earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2020. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, in 2014. Following her undergraduate studies, she served as a Rural Education Development (R.E.D.) Volunteer with the Peace Corps in rural Zambia, where she worked as an English teacher and assisted community leaders with anti-AIDS initiatives. After returning to the United States, she relocated from Detroit, Michigan to Denver, Colorado, where she joined AmeriCorps and volunteered as a literacy tutor at a Title I school in Thornton, Colorado.

Committed to community involvement, Aretha volunteers with Denver Legal Nights through the Colorado Lawyers Committee, providing free legal consultations. Outside of her family law practice, she enjoys roller skating, loose-leaf tea, and spending time with her two cats. She is also a proud aunt and enjoys staying closely connected with her family.
