Anthony Lopez is a Partner and trial lawyer in Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A.'s Miami office where he devotes most of his practice to a broad spectrum of construction and complex civil litigation matters. Mr. Lopez’s construction litigation practice includes representation of contractors, design professionals, subcontractors, materials suppliers, manufacturers, owners, and other entities in construction defect, contract, and lien enforcement claims in State and Federal Court, arbitration, and mediation.

Anthony received his Juris Doctorate from Florida International University College of Law, graduating in the top of his class and earning Dean’s list honors. While in law school, Anthony focused his studies on pre-trial and trial advocacy, business and commercial transactions, and complex civil litigation and procedure. Mr. Lopez served as an Editor for the FIU Law Review and sat on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, Law Students Division, Board of Governors. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Mr. Lopez is fluent in Spanish and is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association. Prior to attending law school, Anthony obtained his Bachelor of Science in Health Science and Administration from the University of Miami and was a member of the University of Miami Rugby Football Club.

Prior to joining CSK, Mr. Lopez practiced at a boutique litigation firm in the areas of commercial and business litigation, debt collection, and probate litigation. In his free time, Anthony enjoys playing sports and staying current on the latest innovations in technology.

Mr. Lopez was recognized on the “Ones to Watch” list by the 2023 edition of the Best Lawyers annual publication.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS:

  • Obtained complete defense verdict after 3-week bench trial, on behalf of electrical contractor, in which plaintiff sought approximately $165 million in property damage, repair costs, business interruption losses, attorneys’ fees, taxable costs, and nearly five years of pre-judgment interest. (Lead counsel).
  • Obtained a favorable administrative order after 3-day bench trial, on behalf of engineering firm, recommending a Final Order finding that good cause did not exist for FDOT to deny the firm’s application for qualification following the tragic FIU bridge collapse. (Co-Lead Counsel).
