Annie Tayyab is an associate in the Litigation Group at Torkin Manes LLP in Toronto, Ontario. Her practice focuses on corporate and commercial litigation, representing clients in a wide range of disputes and other forms of dispute resolution.
Annie acts for individuals, businesses and organizations in complex commercial matters, including shareholder and partnership disputes, contractual disputes, regulatory proceedings, commercial leasing disputes and real estate litigation matters. She regularly appears before the Commercial List and has experience defending lawyers in professional liability claims. Prior to joining Torkin Manes LLP, Annie worked on high-stakes litigation matters, including multi-jurisdictional class actions and competition law proceedings. She has appeared before Courts of Appeal across Canada and has prepared written submissions to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Annie takes a practical and strategic approach to litigation, working closely with clients to understand their objectives, priorities and business considerations at every stage of a matter. She is known for her strong advocacy and negotiation skills, as well as her ability to develop thoughtful and effective solutions tailored to each client’s circumstances.
In addition to her litigation practice, Annie frequently speaks on litigation-related topics, including civil procedure, contract disputes and securities litigation. She is actively involved in the legal community and currently serves as President of the South Asian Bar Association. Annie is also a Committee Member of the Young Advocates’ Standing Committee of The Advocates’ Society and the Ontario Class Actions Bench-Bar Liaison Committee. She volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario and participates in mentorship initiatives within the legal profession.
