Angela Poliquin is a criminal defense and appellate attorney with Rosenstein Law Group in Scottsdale, Arizona. With nearly 20 years of legal experience, she represents individuals facing misdemeanor, felony, and serious felony charges, as well as clients pursuing post-conviction relief and appeals. Her practice includes Appellate Practice, direct appeals, habeas corpus matters, and other post-conviction proceedings in state and federal courts.
Angela is the incoming president of Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice (AACJ), Arizona’s affiliate of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, for the 2024 term. Her election to this leadership role reflects her longstanding involvement in Arizona’s criminal defense community. She follows in the footsteps of Rosenstein Law Group founder Craig Rosenstein, who also previously served as AACJ president.
A graduate of Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona College of Law, Angela received recognition for her legal writing and served as a writing fellow during law school. She also contributed a case note to the Arizona Law Review titled Kromko v. City of Tucson: Government Use of Public Funds to Influence the Outcomes of Elections.
After earning her Juris Doctor, Angela was awarded the Vine Deloria Post-Graduate Fellowship and completed an LL.M. in Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy. Her academic writing was included in the coursebook Cases and Materials on Federal Indian Law, 5th Edition, where she analyzed issues involving comity and full faith and credit in Indian Country. She also contributed to a human rights petition on behalf of the Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group, a coalition of First Nations in Canada. Her research was later acknowledged in the book Like a Loaded Weapon: The Rehnquist Court, Indian Rights, and the Legal History of Racism in America by Robert Williams.
Since beginning her criminal law career in 2006, Angela has focused on courtroom advocacy and appellate litigation. In 2012, she expanded her practice to concentrate more heavily on legal writing, post-conviction relief, and appeals. She has handled matters at every stage of the appellate process, from direct appeals through federal habeas corpus proceedings.
Angela is licensed to practice in Arizona, the United States District Court for the District of Arizona, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Outside of her legal practice, Angela enjoys hiking and camping with her family, watching horror movies, and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs.
