Angel Taveras is an attorney at Taveras Law P.C. in Providence, Rhode Island, where he represents clients in Commercial Litigation and Litigation - Municipal matters. His practice includes complex commercial and government litigation, elections and voting rights litigation, municipal restructuring, public finance, pensions, and public infrastructure matters.
Before founding Taveras Law P.C., Angel served as Mayor of Providence, where he managed significant legal, financial, and policy matters affecting the city and its residents. His public service experience provides clients with insight into the legal and operational challenges facing businesses, municipalities, and public entities.
During his tenure as Mayor, Providence received the All-America City Award from the National Civic League, secured a $3 million grant from the Carnegie Foundation to support innovative high schools, and earned the City Livability Award from the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Common Cause Rhode Island also presented Angel with its Excellence in Public Service Award in recognition of his service and leadership.
In addition to his legal practice, Angel has served as an adjunct professor at Providence College. Through his work in litigation, municipal law, and public policy, he continues to advise clients throughout Rhode Island on matters involving government, business disputes, and regulatory issues.
