Biography
Partner with over 25 years of professional experience in Mexico, New York and across Latin America. His practice is multidisciplinary, with a strong focus on cross-border transactions involving banking and finance, securities, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, private capital and structured financing.
He advises multinational companies and financial institutions in complex and strategic operations throughout Mexico and the region. His clients include Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 companies, as well as entities listed in major global indices such as the Dow Jones, NASDAQ, S&P 500, DAX and Nikkei.
His experience includes participation in some of the most significant transactions in Mexico and the United States, including high-value M&A deals, structured financings, project finance transactions and cross-border investments. Representative matters include advising during the bankruptcy process of Lehman Brothers, advising the Government of Canada in its investment in the financial rescue of Chrysler and General Motors, and participating in the mandatory tender offer through which Anheuser-Busch InBev acquired Grupo Modelo, S.A.B. de C.V. for USD 20.1 billion, one of the largest transactions in the Mexican and Latin American markets.
He currently leads the firm’s transactional practice, including M&A, banking and finance, capital markets, as well as arbitration. He has advised Mexican and foreign financial institutions on regulatory authorizations to operate in Mexico, cross-border financial transactions, secured and unsecured financing, and complex restructuring processes. He has particular experience in structuring financial transactions in the automotive sector.
In the corporate and M&A space, he has advised private equity funds and multinational companies in the structuring and negotiation of cross-border investments, strategic alliances and high-value transactions, often in coordination with leading international law firms.
He has also worked in one of the leading law firms in New York, where he advised on complex financial matters, including derivative claims for major financial institutions such as Citibank. Additionally, he has advised international mining companies, primarily Canadian, on financing structures and debt placements in international markets.
His arbitration practice includes participation in complex commercial and investment disputes under the rules of major institutions such as the ICC, ICDR, AAA, ICSID, LCIA, CANACO and CAM, representing both Mexican and multinational clients.
