Andrea Rush is a Partner in the firm, and a member of the Intellectual Property and Information Technology Groups. A certified specialist in trademarks and copyright, and a patent and trade-mark agent registered to practice law in both Ontario and Quebec, Andrea’s practice focuses on ICT (information and communications technologies), as well as marketing and advertising law. Andrea has appeared as lead counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada, Federal Court, Copyright Board and Trade-marks Opposition Board, and advises on commercialization of intellectual property and technology.
Appointed by the Canadian government to the Information Highway Advisory Council (Copyright Subcommittee) and to a Sectoral Advisory Group on International Trade (Business Services SAGIT), Andrea began her legal career with the federal Department of Justice.
Andrea served as Chair of the Law Society IP Specialist Certification Committee, as Toronto Chair and member of the Board of Directors of ALAI (Association littéraire et artistique internationale) Toronto, as President of the Canadian Technion Society and on the Board of Governors of Technion University, as Advisory Board member of the Stanford University Program on Law, Science and Technology, as Trustee and member of the Editorial Board of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. She sat on the editorial boards of the INTA Trademark Reporter, the Canadian Patent Reporter and Federated Press’ IP Quarterly, and was a member of the McGill University Senate. Currently, she is Co-Chair of ITechLaw Women's International Network (I-WIN) Committee and is also a member of the Scarlet Key Society.
