Amy McLaughlin, a Director of the firm, joined the Employment Law and Litigation Groups in October, 1999. In her counseling practice, Ms. McLaughlin helps employers maintain compliance with federal and state laws that regulate the employment relationship while simultaneously achieving the needs of the business. Ms. McLaughlin also routinely advises employers in preventative employment measures in an effort to avoid litigation. She works with employers to develop and implement effective and appropriate policies and procedures and provides compliance training on a broad spectrum of employment-related topics.
In the litigation context, Ms. McLaughlin has defended employers in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. She has represented employers in a broad spectrum of cases, including cases involving claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, breach of contract, defamation, wage and hour issues, and violations of non-competition agreements.
Ms. McLaughlin is also a regular contributor to the Vermont Employment Law Letter, which is authored and edited by the firm.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. McLaughlin served as a staff attorney with the Vermont Department of Labor and Industry, primarily focusing her practice on wage and hour compliance and workers' compensation issues.
