Biography
Amelia Robertson McLean is an integral part of the Commercial Real Estate Practice Group at Harris Beach Murtha in Syracuse, New York. Her practice encompasses various aspects of environmental, land use, zoning, energy, and municipal law. She provides insightful guidance on navigating federal, state, and local environmental legislation and regulations, ensuring clients effectively manage their environmental responsibilities and liabilities. Amelia is adept at leading the environmental impact review processes, including regulations on traffic patterns, air pollution, coastal areas, and wetlands.
Previously, Amelia practiced as an environmental attorney at a private law firm and served as assistant corporation counsel for the City of Syracuse. Additionally, she gained valuable experience as an intern in the legal department of a national convenience store chain, and as a legal assistant in other firms focusing on commercial real estate transactions and civil litigation.
Her work involves drafting and reviewing complex legal documents such as asset purchase agreements, real estate sales and leases, power purchasing agreements, mining leases, and environmental easements. Amelia also advises clients in sectors like waste management, utilities, mining, and energy, facilitating negotiations with regulatory agencies on permitting and enforcement issues.
Amelia is also experienced in drafting municipal legislation related to land use and zoning laws, commercial leases, license agreements, Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreements, and shelter rental agreements. Her expertise extends to negotiating cell phone tower leases, drafting RFPs for real estate projects, and providing advice in tax certiorari proceedings.
Within the Financial Restructuring, Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights Practice Group, Amelia represents creditors in transactions with financially challenged entities. She collaborates with clients in commercial and consumer sectors, offering counsel on financial planning, debt refinancing and restructuring, contract dispute resolution, bankruptcy, foreclosure, distressed investments, collections, and ensuring compliance with the Uniform Commercial Code.
