Biography
Attorney Alison Krueger has devoted her legal career to family law since earning her Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1999. Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she is a member of Nelson, Krueger & Millenbach LLC, where she represents individuals and families throughout Wisconsin in a wide range of family law matters. Her practice includes divorce, legal separation, annulment, paternity, child support, maintenance (alimony), grandparent visitation, post-judgment issues, and related family law concerns.
Attorney Krueger is also a certified divorce mediator and regularly assists parties through Family Law Mediation. She provides both facilitated divorce mediation and evaluative mediation in family law cases, offering clients alternatives to litigation while remaining prepared to advocate in court when necessary.
Attorney Krueger earned her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, where she studied psychology and mass communications. Her longstanding commitment to issues affecting children and families began early in her career through her work as a child advocate intern at New Horizon’s Shelter for Battered Women and Children. She also studied and worked abroad, including time as a law clerk in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she received the Bank of Scotland Award for Excellence, and legal studies in Cambridge, England.
Before completing law school, Attorney Krueger lobbied for health care reform and patient privacy with the Center for Public Representation in Madison, Wisconsin. These experiences continue to inform her thoughtful and client-centered approach to family law representation.
In her practice, Attorney Krueger emphasizes cooperation and problem-solving. She works closely with clients, opposing counsel, and financial and mental health professionals to pursue practical solutions tailored to each family’s circumstances, whether through negotiation, mediation, or litigation. Her focused family law practice allows her to remain current on Wisconsin family law statutes, case law, and procedural developments.
Attorney Krueger has received multiple forms of professional recognition during her career. She has been acknowledged by the University of Wisconsin Law School for outstanding service and by the National Association of Women Lawyers as an outstanding graduating woman law student. She has also been selected to the Wisconsin Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2006 through 2013 and to the Wisconsin Super Lawyers list from 2015 through 2025. Additional honors include recognition on statewide and Milwaukee-area Super Lawyers lists for women attorneys, as well as inclusion in Milwaukee Magazine and M Magazine family law listings over multiple years.
Attorney Krueger has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® for Family Law and Family Law Mediation in multiple years and has received distinctions within those practice areas in Milwaukee.
