Alexandra Grishanova is a commercial litigator with particular expertise in securities litigation and administrative law. Her experience spans a wide range of matters, including regulatory proceedings, shareholder and partnership disputes, securities class actions, plans of arrangement, and contested transactions before securities regulators. She has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, the New Brunswick Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada (on leave applications), and numerous regulatory bodies across the country.

Alexandra has acted for and against financial services and professional regulators in investigations, enforcement proceedings, contested registration and licensing matters, judicial reviews and appeals, as well as related civil claims. These include matters before CIRO and its predecessors, the Ontario Securities Commission and Capital Markets Tribunal, the British Columbia Securities Commission, FSRA, the Insurance Councils of British Columbia and Alberta, and the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.

Alexandra has extensive experience with regulatory and disciplinary matters involving capital markets participants, insurance agents and brokers, and accountants. She is highly knowledgeable about the procedures and decision-making processes of regulatory and administrative bodies, and has advised regulators on policy and procedural matters. She has also authored legal practice guidance on litigating before Canadian securities regulators and provided strategic advice to international counsel involved in cross-border securities and commercial disputes.

Before joining TAP Law, Alexandra was a lawyer and Director of Legal Research at Crawley MacKewn Brush LLP, a leading securities litigation boutique. In that role, she played a central part in shaping legal strategy and advising on complex, often novel, high-stakes matters. She continues to be a key advisor on intricate legal and procedural issues, including to litigation funders evaluating securities class actions.

Alexandra received her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2016 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2017. Prior to commencing practice, Alexandra served as a judicial law clerk to the judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, including the Divisional Court and the Commercial List.
