Alex practices general commercial and civil litigation and advises clients with respect to a broad range of individual and corporate disputes, including contractual disputes, insurance matters, and tort-based claims. She also has extensive experience in construction matters, particularly with builders’ liens and delay claims. Alex has represented clients in the Alberta Court of Justice (formerly Provincial Court) and the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, as well as in commercial arbitrations and mediations.
Alex has developed a speciality in employment law and has advised both employers and employees on various issues including terminations, workplace bullying and harassment, employee management, human rights issues, and disciplinary matters. She has experience representing clients before the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal and the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
Alex joined Carbert Waite in 2019 after practicing at a large Calgary law firm as well as a smaller boutique firm. She earned her law degree from the University of British Columbia and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2014.
Alex aims to provide common-sense advice to help clients achieve efficient and effective resolutions. She is also committed to providing pro bono legal services in the community and regularly volunteers with Calgary Legal Guidance, Queen’s Bench Amicus Program, and Civil Claims Duty Counsel.
Outside the office, Alex enjoys good food, good wine, and the latest celebrity gossip.
