Alain Casanovas

Professional experience

I have been a partner of KPMG since 2000. I have held the position of secretary to the board (non-board member) at various multinational companies and have provided legal advisory services on company expansions. I have been appointed as an arbitrator by the Tribunal Arbitral de Barcelona in various disputes regarding transactions between companies.

I have designed and carried out various projects to improve internal controls in relation to legal matters and I am the author of the following books: “Control de riesgos legales en la empresa”(Control of Legal Risks in Companies), “Sistemas de control de riesgos legales”(Control Systems for Legal Risks), “Control Legal Interno” (Internal Legal Control) and “Legal Compliance – Principios de Cumplimiento Generalmente Aceptados”(Legal Compliance- Generally Accepted Principles of Compliance) .

I combine my professional activity with teaching and since 1999 have been an associate lecturer in the Law Department of ESADE and also at Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía (ISDE). I codirect a Postgraduate Course in Compliance at Universities Pompeu Fabra and Carlos III. I am a regular speaker at conferences on legal matters and a member of the editorial board of the monthly publication, Economist & Iurist.

I am a member of AENOR’s SC1 working group and also of the ISO/PC 271 and 278 groups, which are currently preparing the international ISO standards in relation to Compliance Management Systems and Anti-Bribery Management Systems.
