Biography

Adam R. Banner is an Oklahoma City criminal defense attorney whose practice is devoted to representing individuals facing serious criminal charges, investigations, trials, and appeals in Oklahoma state and federal courts. He is the founder of The Law Offices of Adam R. Banner, P.C., which also operates under the trade name Oklahoma Legal Group, and represents clients throughout Oklahoma in complex and high-stakes criminal matters.

Banner has extensive experience defending serious felony cases, including first-degree murder and other homicide charges, sex crimes, violent offenses, drug crimes, white-collar criminal matters, and federal criminal investigations and prosecutions. His practice also includes criminal appeals and cases involving constitutional issues such as unlawful searches and seizures, police interrogations, and other alleged violations of constitutional rights.

Banner is an experienced criminal trial lawyer who has obtained jury acquittals for clients facing some of Oklahoma's most serious criminal charges. His trial results include not-guilty verdicts in cases involving first-degree murder, first-degree rape, sexual battery, lewd acts with a child, and other felony offenses. His appellate work has also resulted in significant victories, including the reversal of serious felony convictions.

Before entering private practice, Banner represented indigent defendants at the Oklahoma County Public Defender's Office, where he gained substantial courtroom experience defending individuals accused of crimes. He later founded his own criminal defense practice in Oklahoma City.

Banner graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma City University School of Law. In addition to practicing criminal defense, he serves as an adjunct professor at Oklahoma City University School of Law and has written extensively on criminal law, constitutional issues, trial practice, and the intersection of law and popular culture. He is a longtime columnist for the ABA Journal and has also contributed extensively to HuffPost.

Banner has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for Criminal Defense: General Practice and Criminal Defense: White-Collar. He has also been selected to Oklahoma Super Lawyers and holds an AV Preeminent® peer-review rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Adam R. Banner represented a client charged with lewd acts involving a neighboring child after former conviction of a felony (AFCF). After Banner's cross-examination of the complaining witness, the judge dismissed the charge prior to the case being submitted to the jury based on the prosecution's failure to present sufficient evidence.
  • Sexual Battery — Law Enforcement Officer Acquitted at Jury Trial
Adam R. Banner represented a law enforcement officer accused of sexually battering a civilian while on duty. Evidence showed that the officer encountered the accuser twice during the shift in question and did not activate his body-worn camera during either encounter. Following a nearly two-week jury trial, Banner's client was found not guilty.
