Family Law

Biography

Since 2006, I have served as an advisor and legal counsel to individuals and families across a wide geographic region, including communities from Dallas to St. Louis. My practice focuses on Family Law matters, including divorce and child custody disputes that directly affect family relationships, financial stability, and long-term planning. I also represent clients in complex guardianship cases, particularly those involving multi-state or international considerations.

Practicing law has been my professional goal since an early age. I was born and raised in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, a close-knit community with a long history of accomplished trial lawyers. Growing up, I followed major courtroom cases reported in the local newspaper, which shaped my interest in litigation and advocacy. Those early influences continue to guide my work today as an attorney serving clients in Sapulpa and throughout Oklahoma.

The early years of my legal career were shaped by hands-on learning and mentorship. While law school provided a foundation, meaningful growth came through practical experience and guidance from seasoned attorneys. That process ultimately led to the formation of Bundy Law alongside colleagues who value ongoing professional development and collaborative problem-solving. The firm has been recognized in Band 1 by Chambers and Partners, reflecting consistent evaluations by clients and industry peers over many years.

I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Family Lawyers. These affiliations provide access to a broad professional network that can be particularly helpful in complex Family Law cases. I am also board-certified in Family Law trial work by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, which reflects substantial courtroom experience and peer review. My work has been individually recognized by Chambers & Partners, Lawdragon, The Best Lawyers in America, and The Spears 500, based on independent research and evaluations.

Many Family Law matters involve significant financial considerations. My practice is supported by extensive financial training, including a Certified Financial Planner certificate from SMU and advanced business valuation education through the National Family Law Trial Institute. I am admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court and maintain membership with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), allowing me to stay informed on developments in trust law and asset planning. This background helps me analyze financial issues that often arise in divorce, custody, and guardianship cases.

I approach every client matter with careful preparation and attention to detail. Each case receives a thorough evaluation, strategic planning, and consistent communication throughout the legal process. My goal is to provide clear guidance, responsive service, and dedicated advocacy for individuals and families seeking Family Law representation in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and beyond.

Q&A

I represent individuals who have been betrayed and harmed by someone they trusted. Often this is in a family law context, but my focus on relationship justice allows me to help people facing criminal charges and in business and injury cases involving breach of a special duty by a trusted partner.

At my law firm, we are particularly unique in our skill set. Our professional memberships in various national organizations take us outside of conventional family law circles. We train and obtain resources from plaintiff and criminal defense organizations, emphasizing courtroom advocacy skills. We have sought out and incorporated high standards of practice and conduct for our work in negotiation, litigation, trial and appeal. As a result, we bring perspective and proficiency that few other attorneys can match.

More and more I see successful professional women frustrated with their relationships. Early in their marriage perhaps the spouses were more on an even playing field -- when they were just out of college or before they had children -- but as time passed, things changed. While the same rules for alimony and child support apply to high-earning women, many times these women were in a dual role, taking care of the house and kids in addition to their professional success outside the home. So they come in feeling like they got the short end of the stick both in terms of money and household help. Sometimes they feel pressured to stay in the relationship due to the potential financial repercussions. However, remaining in a bad situation rarely improves it. My advice in these cases often includes working with a qualified financial planner early to plan for both the divorce and post-marital life. These issues have propelled me and the attorneys I work with to spend extra time and care on our own financial education to help clients find their best options for resolution.

All clients are often frustrated when they are dealing with a false or exaggerated claim by the other side -- a common occurrence in high-conflict, fast-paced litigation. My answer is, keep your eye on the ball. Our process for handling a matter is goal-oriented, so we work early in the case to establish the end goal and move in that direction, without regard to what the other side says or does to try to obstruct us.

I was able to assist two separate clients with similar interstate jurisdictional issues. In both cases, the client had been served with a surprise divorce filing, and their spouses had filed in our jurisdiction without establishing the minimum residency requirement (although claiming they had). In both matters, we put the case together and proved the facts through the opposing party on cross-examination, which is the most powerful way to prove facts. At the conclusion of the evidence, both cases were transferred to the proper state, and the Oklahoma cases were dismissed.

Family law touches almost every other area of law: real property, criminal, tax, contract, constitutional rights and much more. In addition, family law requires knowledge of regulatory and administrative rules and common business practices. In a complex case with multiple issues, this means the lawyer must gather, organize and assess a great deal of information, some of which is conflicting and much of which will change as the case goes on. And emotions are high. Effective assessment and understanding of the information as well as the involved personalities is key to a successful outcome.

I grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, southwest of Tulsa. Sapulpa has been home to many successful and nationally-renowned trial lawyers, including brothers Jack and "Wild Bill" Sellers, Creekmore Wallace, the Youngs, and others. I heard about those lawyers' trials and great verdicts in my youth. I always wanted to be a trial lawyer and work in the courtroom.

After I finished law school, I read everything I could about great trial lawyers to try to capture some fraction of their greatness. I stumbled upon the work of Stephen Susman, and it changed my practice. He was a true trial lawyer and had figured out that gamesmanship in discovery and procedure didn't win trials. Fortunately, he shared his work at at www.trialbyagreement.com, leaving a legacy of healthy perspective about how to get to and through trial successfully. I was also lucky to hear Roger Dodd many years ago and find the Dodd & Pozner book on cross-examination, which is really the cornerstone for everything we do in litigation.

I enjoy reading for work and leisure and writing on law-related topics. I have always enjoyed outdoor exercise. A few years ago, I got back into boxing. I believe the demands of boxing in terms of constant preparation and development as well as the match itself are very comparable to the experiences of a trial lawyer.

Our strength comes from the intellect and creativity of all of our attorneys. I am fortunate to work with some of the best attorneys in Oklahoma, all of whom are female. We each bring diversity of experience and ideas to case strategy and trial preparation. However, we also have a common background through our training after law school and our written process for handling cases from start to finish. Our individual backgrounds and training add value to each client's situation. We have the energy and resources necessary to handle a case of any size and complexity.

Technology is changing the practice of law, despite the legal industry's general reluctance and resistance to change. We have incorporated a number of technologies to increase our efficiency and minimize human error. We are using artificial intelligence to review volumes of data in complex cases and applying A.I. to brief-writing as well, to check and verify citations. Our case management system includes the automated text messaging that people expect from service providers including dentists, stylists and doctors. Tech is certainly not a shortcut for preparation, but applying it gives us a competitive advantage that directly benefits each of our clients. We are constantly looking for resources to make our work better and more efficient.
