Media Law governs the practice of activities in which a media takes part, meaning any process that enables communication and the broadcast of contents.  

As many media methods and materials are available, the scope of Media Law is very large. Its content is also very diversified as it includes every legal regulations rules that apply to media.

The field of Media Law involves Copyright Law, Press Law, Right of Privacy,  Image Rights, Advertisement Law, Audiovisual Law and Trademarks Law.  

Media sector is continually changing and its techniques evolve quickly. The emergence of new delivery modes of flow of information, new supports and consulting tools (smartphones, digital tablets, electronic books…) generates new issues that imply to constantly reconsider our legal and economical systems.

We are faced with the explosion of web’s communication and the legislation slowly and hardly evolves on that matter. As a consequence, the legal professionals have to develop a strong capacity to adapt and anticipate.  

Practice of Media Law includes the provision of recommendations and legal advices in order to assure the legal conformity of the clients’ projects (particularly in the fields of edition, press, copyrights and advertisement). Similarly, drafting and negotiating contracts concerning the role and behavior of media’s actors is a huge part of media lawyers’ activity.  

Furthermore, Media law can’t be apprehended without the growing area of new technology any more. As a consequence, media law actors developed new skills in digital creation (websites, social networks, instant messaging, online video platforms..) and risk management operations due to these new medias.
