The Coleman Law Firm, PLLC was established in 1985. The firm restricts its practice to estate planning, estates and trusts, wills, charitable planning, asset protection planning, elder law, including Medicaid planning, and financial exploitation of the elderly. The firm engages extensively with probate and trust administration matters.

C. Randolph Coleman, the firm's principal attorney, entered private law practice after six years serving as a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Coleman began his legal career with the Miami law firm Mershon, Sawyer, Johnston, Dunwody and Cole. He became a partner of the national law firm, Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg, Manley, and Casey, in 1983. Later Mr. Coleman co-founded the law firm Coleman, Cosby, Lipscomb & Bounds, P.A., in Coral Gables, Florida. He then moved his practice to Jacksonville, Florida in 1991.

Mr. Coleman's practice is limited to estate planning, elder law (including Medicaid planning), tax and asset protection planning, small business planning, and probate and trust administration.  He is a member of the Florida Bar (Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, Elder Law Section).

Mr. Coleman is a frequent lecturer and speaker on estate planning and asset protection planning. He co-authored: The New Florida Trust Code,” Lorman Seminars (2008);  Asset Protection Techniques in Florida, National Business Institute (2004); and authored Family Limited Partnerships in Florida (Chapter: “The Use of Family Limited Partnerships in Estate Planning”), National Business Institute (2002); Key Issues in Estate Planning and Probate in Florida (Chapter: “Protecting the Passage of Wealth”), National Business Institute (1997); Advanced Estate Planning Techniques in Florida (Chapters: “The Use of Family Limited Partnerships in Estate Planning” and “Ethical Considerations”) National Business Institute (1995).

Mr. Coleman is a continuing education instructor for various organizations and is approved by the Florida Department of Financial Services as an instructor for life insurance and financial services agents and certified financial planners, and is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy for continuing education courses for Certified Public Accountants.  He has served as a presenter of continuing legal education for The Florida Bar (Pets and Trusts Under the Florida Trust Code, The Nuts & Bolts of Practicing Animal Law Profitably, 2008; Animal Law Issues Affecting Florida Practitioners, “Trusts and Pets:  Establishing Trusts for Pets Under Florida Law,” 2005), National Business Institute, and Sterling Education Seminars.

Mr. Coleman also served as the Program Director, Asset Protection Planning, for the Florida Physicians Association, a professional trade association for physicians, from 1997 through 2009.  He is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys ("NAELA"), WealthCounsel, LLC, a national association of estate planning attorneys, and a member of ElderCounsel, LLC, a national association of elder law attorneys, helping the elderly preserve their assets, and provide for long term care planning.

Mr. Coleman is a graduate of the University of Florida Warrington College of Business (BSBA ‘72) and the University of Florida Levin College of Law (JD, with honors ‘78). He served on the Executive Committee of the UF College of Law Alumni Council from 1992 through 1998.

Mr. Coleman and The Coleman Law Firm have been listed for 30 consecutive years in the Martindale-Hubbell® Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers, which lists only those select lawyers who have earned the A-V® Rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and have therefore been designated by their colleagues as preeminent in their field and ethical in their conduct.
