FIVE DECADES OF OUTSTANDING RESULTS: SGT is a plaintiffs’ law firm. We are trial lawyers who thrive in high-stakes litigation and for nearly 50 years we have represented injured individuals, groups, and organizations in the important, complex cases that change lives. Our track record speaks for itself: we’ve returned billions of dollars in jury verdicts and settlements in class action, personal injury, medical malpractice, antitrust, and other complex matters to our clients.

SGT has been taking the tough, life-changing-big cases that the well-being of people, groups, and organizations depend on. We do not take cases that we aren't prepared to try, and we relish opportunities to get in the courtroom. Our approach has earned us a reputation for excellence at trial and our courtroom prowess is often a driving force in resolving a matter in our clients' favor.

CATASTROPHIC EVENT LITIGATION PIONEERS: SGT pioneered the type of medical malpractice and serious personal injury practices the firm is known for throughout Connecticut. We take on cases involving catastrophic events and expend the resources, time, and expertise others won't or can't. In 1980, SGT became the first firm in Connecticut history to obtain a $1 million-plus medical malpractice verdict and we have continued obtaining record-setting results ever since. This is why majority of our medical malpractice and serious personal injury cases are referrals from other lawyers.

GUIDING OUR COMMUNITIES THROUGH NATIONAL CONTROVERSIES: SGT’s Class Action and Complex Litigation practice groups regularly achieve landmark results involving national issues and controversies that touch the communities we serve.
