Our Story

Merovitz Potechin LLP has been serving the personal and business needs of our clients for over 44 years. The firm was started by Chuck Merovitz in April 1976. In June 1978, Chuck invited Bram Potechin to join as a partner. Together, they have built the firm upon a foundation of exceptional legal advice and client service.

After 20 years in practice, the firm began a calculated period of growth to meet the developing needs of its clients in Ottawa. In 1996, Robert De Toni was hired to help expand the litigation department and in 1997, Tim Grieve joined the firm to lead its business law team. Both Rob and Tim became partners. Merovitz Potechin continued to grow the partnership with the addition of real estate lawyer Eli Udell in 2018 and estate litigation lawyer Yasmin Vinograd in 2019. Real estate lawyer, Merredith MacLennan, joined the partnership in 2020, and corporate and wills and estates lawyer Mitchell Besner joined in 2021.

As of 2022, we have grown to a team of 17 lawyers and 40 support staff. Every member of this firm is a valued member of our team. We support each other in both our professional and personal lives. We care deeply about our staff, clients, families and community.
