MGGL is a large, highly specialised labour boutique that stands out for its institutionalised approach. With more than 60 lawyers dedicated to labour and employment matters, the firm provides consistently high quality legal services to leading multinational and national clients in a modern and efficient manner. The firm’s six partners all have PhD or Master’s degrees from leading universities including Harvard and Tulane in the US.

History & institutionalisation

MGGL was founded by three highly experienced partners with postgraduate degrees from top US universities and a wide range of expertise in Mexican labour and employment law. Their goal was to build an institutionalised labour and employment boutique with a focus on providing world-class legal services.

Investment & growth

MGGL has invested heavily in the education of its lawyers and in cutting-edge software for efficient and effective case management and, following years of sustained growth, is widely considered a market leader in Mexico.

Market-leading labour practice

MGGL is ranked as a leading firm in the Mexico labour and employment sections of both Chambers Latin America and The Legal 500 Latin America. The firm is ranked in Band 1 by Legal 500, with clients singling the firm out as ‘the best labour law firm in Mexico’ and praising it for ‘always having solutions, options and answers’.

MGGL handles complex, sensitive and strategic labour and employment matters, ranging from high-profile disputes and collective bargaining to the labour aspects of high-end M&A and corporate restructurings.

The firm is renowned for its expertise in labour litigation; the team handles large, complicated disputes before all levels of the court, including several recent cases before the Supreme Court of Justice, and has been called as expert witness in international arbitration cases.

The firm has an equally strong practice in non-contentious labour matters, including the labour aspects of major M&A and corporate restructurings, as well as collective bargaining; in this respect the firm has developed strong, longstanding working relationships with unions.

Across all areas of its practice, MGGL works closely with its clients to identify strategic alternatives and solutions to problems, in a context of rigid legislation and an ever-changing and dynamic global marketplace.

Resources

MGGL has large teams in Mexico City and Guadalajara, coordinating cases at a national level through arrangements with a network of firms across more than 50 Mexican cities. This allows the firm to deal with a high volume of concurrent lawsuits.
